The 2024 collection

Votes, vampires, bad employers and worse houseguests.

These films range from affectionate owner favourites to disappointments worth arguing about. The table distinguishes developed reviews from newly added entries marked Coming soon! The verdict on each developed page remains a proposal unless explicitly confirmed by the owner. A place on this shelf does not make every film a recommendation.

Three ways into the year

Who controls the room? In Conclave, authority depends on ballots, private conversations and the information that survives both. Heretic makes a seemingly hospitable room into a rigged argument. Civil War moves through a country in which the camera can record force without explaining its politics. These are different kinds of power, and the reviews reach different conclusions about how convincingly the films examine them. The owner's disappointment with Civil War remains part of its argument.

Whose body, whose terms? The Substance makes commercial demands on a woman's appearance grotesquely literal. Babes approaches pregnancy and changing friendship through comedy and practical mess. Anora follows a young woman whose apparent access to wealth leaves other people holding the terms. Pairing them offers a conversation about autonomy and material circumstances; it does not make their experiences interchangeable.

Pick your nightmare's tempo. Nosferatu builds an elaborate, oppressive world around desire and dread. Oddity concentrates its scares around a smaller set of rooms and objects. Longlegs makes empty space feel occupied before explaining its mechanism; V/H/S/Beyond keeps changing both the camera and the creature. Alien: Romulus and Deadpool & Wolverine offer very different encounters with familiar franchises. The individual reviews weigh what familiarity gives each film and what it costs.

Before you choose

The content varies substantially. Conclave discusses sexual abuse without depicting those events. Heretic contains captivity and bloody injury. Longlegs involves family murders and graphic self-injury; V/H/S/Beyond contains extreme bodily mutilation. Those are distinct concerns, not a general warning attached to everything on this page.

The individual Before you watch sections identify relevant content, including sexual material, coercion, discrimination, violence and reproductive distress where supported. More revealing details have separate closed disclosures. Each review also keeps its ending analysis behind a spoiler boundary.

Dates and editorial status

Membership follows the catalog's recorded release year. A different regional release date does not create another entry. Each article identifies its own sources and relevant runtime or edition differences.

Existing owner notes are retained in the reviews for Alien: Romulus, Babes, Civil War and Nosferatu. The newly developed Conclave, Heretic, Longlegs and V/H/S/Beyond drafts propose their own critical judgments for review; they claim no new viewing by the owner. Numerical Corny DNA ratings remain unassigned where the owner has not supplied them.
